Agile And Robotics

Rapid technological breakthroughs are enabling robotics to play an irreplaceable part in a host of industries. With robots becoming flexible and smarter the very shape of traditional manufacturing is being transformed. And it is further branching out to the health care and service sector as well.

From robotic intelligence based on machine learning and transferring, to vision intelligence and force perception, systems are being developed with a unique combination of technologies providing intelligent easy-to-use, and affordable robotic solutions to some of the most challenging manufacturing and medical problems.

An Agile approach to address the challenges of scaling Robotic Process Automation (RPA) should be adopted by large organizations. It will drive the automation initiatives. The agile approach results in better governance, increased efficiency, and greater reduced costs as risk and rework can be mitigated.

RPA requires software development, implementation, and synchronized change management. It’s complex so to say. As a basic framework, it requires the integration of the various automation tools and the amalgamation of automation technologies. It should be cross-functional and streamline the business processes to be automated. It should develop them, test them and then deploy them.

Implementing RPA and scaling it up is a herculean task. Even large organizations are facing issues as they are following a Waterfall or Project approach. In a project-based approach, everything is decided upfront making the initiative very rigid. Often we see RPA projects months after implementation develops complications. These issues could have been avoided by following the Agile principles.

RPA differs from the usual software and product development significantly. However, if we apply basic Agile principles the same outcome could be achieved. It can reduce cost and risk exposure and deliver value faster.

Every principle of the Agile Scrum framework can’t be applied everywhere. There is a difference between products and processes. However, there are a few elements of an Agile Scrum approach that can be valuable and provide clear dividends for the organizations with a vision to employ them to accelerate scale.

When we are approaching RPA with an Agile approach, it contains a dedicated team of various stakeholders working in tandem that includes Developers, testers, and business persons. It reinforces the effectiveness in identifying RPA opportunities and also facilitates governance at scale.

A dedicated team is better prepared to manage and coordinate automated processes that impact various operations and business verticals.

At ‘Advance Agility ‘ we come up with an Agile approach. We enable Intelligent Process Automation. We are experts in transforming complex, multi-layered business processes. Our stellar legacy is a testament to this regard. Do get in touch for any Business Transformation that you are aiming at.
